Lawn Care & Yard Maintenance

Regular lawn care that keeps a property clean, even and well kept. Basic maintenance covers four core steps on every visit, handled by appointment on a schedule that fits the property.

The one-third rule
Never cut more than a third of the blade at once. Scalping a lawn stresses the roots and opens the door to weeds and bare spots.
Height by season
Grass kept a little taller through summer heat shades its own roots and holds moisture. It comes down going into fall.
Sharp blade, clean cut
A dull blade tears the grass and leaves brown, frayed tips. A clean cut starts at the mower, not the lawn.

Mind the mulch line
Two to three inches holds moisture and blocks weeds. Piled against the trunk it traps rot. Keep it pulled back a few inches.
Pine straw holds slopes
On banks and inclines, pine straw knits together and stays in place where loose mulch washes out.
Read the tree first
Leaning, large dead limbs, fungus at the base or cracks in the trunk are signs a tree should be looked at before it fails.

Water has to go somewhere
Most yard and foundation problems trace back to drainage. Grading fixes the cause, not just the symptom.
New sod, first two weeks
Fresh sod needs deep, daily water to root. Light watering is what kills it before it takes.
A wall needs a base
A retaining wall is only as strong as its footing and the drainage behind it. Skip those and water pushes it out.
